The above screenshot is from the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.magazinesdirect.com\/az-single-issues\/6936989\/how-it-works-magazine-single-issue.thtml\" target=\"_blank\">publisher\u2019s website<\/a> where you can buy copies even if you missed them when they came out. As you can see, the subjects are pretty eclectic. November\u2019s feature was all about UFOs, which is a longstanding interest of mine (the weirder aspects of the  topic are covered in my book <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/andrew-may.com\/blog\/2016\/12\/pseudoscience-and-science-fiction\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"91\" target=\"_blank\">Pseudoscience and Science Fiction<\/a>, although the magazine feature is focused on more mundane causes of unidentified aerial phenomena). Then my December piece was about the James Webb Space Telescope, currently on its way to explore the depths of the universe \u2013 an online version is available on the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/james-webb-space-telescope\" target=\"_blank\">LiveScience<\/a> website. Finally this month\u2019s article is about the huge nuclear-fusion-producing laser at the National Ignition Facility in California \u2013 that one is <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/worlds-biggest-laser\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a> too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made the cover of How It Works magazine for the third month in a row!
